my coworker is giving his acceptance speech for breaking into the top 50,000 tumblrs.
and yes, first on the list was God.
People Are Strange, Man.
I remember a few years ago, I was constantly the butt of every “creeper” joke anybody would make. I was the dude that carried his camera everywhere he went and was constantly documenting his life. People thought this was strange and that it made me really hard to be around.
I thought earlier, “Nobody has done that for a really long fucking time” and I realized that it’s because everybody does that shit now. Even the people that once made fun of me for doing it are now looking at the best kind of camera to post shots of themselves and their lives all over their favorite social networking websites.
This rapid evolution of user-friendly internet has caused a surge in documentation, something I’ve done for years now. I think it is great, but sometimes, it kind of pisses me off. Granted, most people don’t take the time to title every folder with the day the photos were taken in, in a subfolder for the month they were taken in, in a subfolder of the year they were taken in, but they’re still doing it. I wonder how long it’s going to take before they start making wi-fi, high-resolution cameras that can post shit straight to the internet (one that doesn’t double as a cell phone, heh.)
You know, when I was a kid, I had a two megapixel camera and an old VHS camera that I couldn’t even edit with. There were so many times I was ostracized for filming stuff or for taking photos when people weren’t expecting them. Nobody even glances at me anymore, and a lot of people are shooting snapshots on dSLR’s and carrying them everywhere they go. My first dSLR was a Canon Rebel XT and I paid almost $1,200 for the kit. You can go to Wal-Mart now and buy a new rebel for almost half that, and they are infinitely better cameras. The younger you are, the easier it is to be an artist. And while I think that is awesome, I have a sickening feeling that we’re going to have to sift through even more garbage to find anything created by someone that has a true love for the art and not for just getting getting seen.
At any rate, I hope to buy the Canon 50D today which is going to cost me less than my 20D did when I bought it. It just feels fucking strange to me, that’s all.

O14 is probably the most interesting looking office tower going up in Dubai. It is very close to completion. Probably only Architect geeks will find this next image interesting, but check out that rebar and the forms for the holes. Impressive to say the least.
